Questions on Kobra 400 WB Cross-Cut Shredder with Hopper
- From d bordick at 11/25/09 8:57 AM
- I am researching shredders for my office. Can you explain what the "Security Level" number means? This machine in particular has a level 3.
- The security levels are a standard that is set by the NSA for all shredder manufacturers. A security level 2 is a strip cut from top to bottom. A security level 3 adds a cross cut every 1.5 inches. A security level 4 does a cross cut every .75 inches and so on until you get a HS level 6. A level 6 is as small as it gets and is what the NSA classifies as secure for all sensitive material.
In most cases, a Level 3 shredder is more than sufficient for most businesses needs. The drawbacks of higher security are price, speed, and capacity. Level 3 seems to be the best blend of security vs. speed for most customers. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No
