Hi Alexander,

Thank you for your great questions.

The GBC GEX106 Jam Free Cross-Cut Shredder is designed for people who shred less than 50 pages a day. This particular machine is an excellent choice for use by 1-4 users for light productivity. The GBC GEX106 Jam Free Cross-Cut Shredder has the ability to run continuously for 4 minutes however, you need to know that after the GEX106 has run continuously for that 4-minute time period, it will need about half-an-hour to cool off before you can shred again. This machine will turn your documents into 1/6″ x 1-3/4″ pieces, giving you Level 3 security. I hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance. I’m happy to help!

In this series I will be going through the different characteristics or specs to keep in mind when considering which paper shedder is the “best” high security paper shredder for your needs.

Below you will find Part 2 (Paper Shredder Size) of “What is the Best High Security Paper Shredder?

Size – Size is something to consider after you have decided on your Security needs and whether or not you need a High Security Shredder you need. Regarding size, keep a few things in mind – actual size of the machine (how big is the paper shredder?) and also how big is the shred bin?

For the size, make sure the shredder you are looking to acquire will fit the area or location you plan on having the shredder. The worst thing that can happen is you get a paper shredder and then it doesn’t fit where you want it too.

With regards with the shred bin size, think about how often you will need to or want to empty the shredder bin. Strip-Cut Shredders and Cross-Cut Shredders require more emptying (trash duty) than high security shredders (Level 5 [HS5 or High Security Level 5] and Level 6 [HS6 or High Security Level 6 or NSA Approved or DOD Approved]. This is because high security shredders shred the paper into smaller particles.

For more info on HS6 Security – What is an HS6 High Security Shredder?

“…An HS6 shredder is approved by the NSA for the destruction of top secret documentation. Simply put, an HS6 shredder shreds paper into dust – looks like a pile of sand almost…”

Wikipedia – Paper Shredder – HS6 Size

“Shredders range in size and price from small and inexpensive units meant for a few pages, to large units used by commercial shredding services that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and can shred millions of documents an hour.”

Can you program the Swingline 350MD (or any electric punchers) puncher for single-hole punches ? If so, is there a way to measure how far you can put the paper in so the punches are always done in the same position on the document ?
Thank you

The DestroyIt 2604cc 3/32” is a Security Level 4 machine. The DestroyIt 2604cc is a Security Level 3 Machine. The machines look and operate the same, but the 3/32″ version shreds paper down to 3/32″ x5/8″ particles. This is roughly half the size of the security level 3 machine. I hope this answers your question, Let us know if we can be of any more assistance.

Well, that is a difficult question to answer. The truth is that there are a lot of “Best” high security paper shredders on the market. It really depends on the user’s needs. Please look for a series of articles to come regarding this topic. Below you will find Part 1 of “What is the Best High Security Paper Shredder?

In this series I will be going through the different characteristics or specs to keep in mind when considering which paper shedder is the “best” high security paper shredder for your needs.

Security – Security needs is the number 1 factor when deciding what High Security Shredder you need. For example, there are 2 levels of high security shredders – Level 5 (HS5 or High Security Level 5) and Level 6 (HS6 or High Security Level 6 or NSA Approved or DOD Approved). Level 5 was the old NSA Approved standard and has been replaced by the Level 6 High Security Standard. Most government agencies go with level 6 as this is now the approved standard by the NSA and DOD. You will often hear the terms Top Secret Shredder, NSA Approved Shredder or DOD Approved Shredder when you bring up a level 6 high security shredder. Level 5 is used very little now that the level 6 high security standard has been released. Level 6 is definitely the recommended security level for any government agency, especially if top secret documents are involved.

For more info on HS6 Security – What is an HS6 High Security Shredder?
