Basically there are three ways Fellowes Jam Proof shredders work:

• Sensor measures paper thickness. Red means the shredder is overfed and excess paper needs to be removed in order for the shredder to resume shredding
• No angled paper. If paper is inserted at an angle, the shredder pauses, reverses, then resumes shredding.
• Light bar measures sheet capacity. As you feed stacks of paper into the machine, the sensor makes sure that you are within the recommended sheet capacity.
