Creative Uses for Shredded Paper

Shredded PaperMost houses and office have a shredder these days which means that we product a LOT of shredded paper. So what do you do with this paper you ask?

1. Use it to motivate yourself to get out of the office and take a camping trip. Paper shreds in hand, light your own fire!

2. We all have to ship/pack things at some point in our lives. Cross-cut or Strip-cut shreds make perfect packing material.

3. Pet beds. Many pet beds have covers that are washable but the interior is fake wool or some other material that can’t be washed. Use your old shredder paper. It is disposable and you can change it out avoiding mold and buying new pet beds every 3 months.

4. Recycle. Security and identity theft make paper shredders a must for your home or office.

5. Christmas gift bags. Especially good if you use old ads or the comic page from the Sunday Paper–colorful!! You just need a strip-cut shredder and a few hundred hours to weave them all together:)

6. Moving/packaging material. Don’t buy that expensive bubble wrap when you already have material available.

7. Prank Material (see below)

One of the teachers at the school where I work had a hilarious experience when they went out to their car and found that it had been completely filled with old shredded paper. Words do do it justice so check out the youtube video here.

“Take up a collection. Save every paper product you’d normally throw out, and ask around for more. Just from my household’s supply of paper we’d usually throw out, I gathered enough to fill my friend’s 4-door sedan floor to ceiling of shredded paper (and a couple bags of packing peanuts) in about 3 months.”

Make sure the person you are playing the prank on will think it is funny…or at least be far enough away that they can’t catch you.:)

Happy Shredding!
